V & THE NICOTINE MACHINE - Indigo Children
Indigo Children by v. & the NICOTINE MACHINE
This gorgeous track by V & the Nicotine Machine begins as a mournful dirge on the recklessness of youth in a small town before triumphantly switching gears and moving on. "I'm feeling just fine." Dig

Dizzy Dearest - Capture Me
Capture Me by Dizzy Dearest
Just recently got introduced to Dizzy Dearest (Lansing Area)'s music and I was truly floored. This track opens with woozily blissed out synths and the vocals and the rest of the instrumentation elevate the track higher and higher as the song progress like a kaleidoscopic strobing hot air balloon. Dizzy Dearest has a truly unique sound blending elements of dayglo folk, dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock. Highly recommend checking everything on their soundcloud.
Also there's a new addition to the Mostly Pleasant staff! New blog posts will be accompanied by the amazing artwork of Lansing/Mount Pleasant based artistCassie McCarthy
art by Akshully/Cassie McCarthy, Dizzy Dearest, dream pop, indie, Michigan electronic, Mostly Pleasant, psychedelic, synthy dayglo folk
We have a new artist! Cassie McCarthy
New music posts on the Mostly Pleasant Blog will now be accompanied by original artwork from Cassie McCarthy! She works in a number of mediums including daily comics, installation art, soft sculptures/stuffies, and recently skateboards. Really stoked to have her contributing! Thanks Cass!

More exquisitely melancholy psychedelic electronic from Cursive Age's new EP "Life Is Not a Serious Possibility". Truly a great EP, you can check out the whole thing here, or check out this one and his last album "The Field" on the Cursive Age Soundcloud.

He's new to the blog, but Dr Patient has been relentlessly cranking out songs for a while now. Check out his new track "Salvadilla," a blissfully off-kilter piano driven IDM tune that conjures images of glitched out/stuttering iridescent holographic mist & clouds

Crash Sunday - Brutal Sunshine & the Godyssey
Brutal Sunshine & The Godyssey from Crash Sunday(2009).
Multi-Media Mixtape(audio AND video). Warning for epileptics: it's a lotta color strobing. Sorry the quality isn't better but vimeo compresses it a LOT.
A message from Crash Sunday:"This is an old project I once considered my autobiography. It's a bit past its prime, but I needed to put it online to purge myself of it. I still have full quality DVDs left, email crash.sunday@gmail.com if ya want one.

Crash Sunday - 2 New Tunes
Crash Sunday - Mylar Ocean by Crash Sunday
Crash Sunday ft Joko - Sub-Atomic Mating Ritual by Crash Sunday
Here's two new tunes off of the Mostly Pleasant vol 1 compilation that we put out in February 2010. This stuff is way different from my previous releases; these are some of the 1st songs I did within the new genre Post-Aquarium.
Sub-Atomic Mating Ritual is a collabo with a new Mostly Pleasant producer called Joko a.k.a. Josh Kovitz. It's about sub-atomic particles fucking in a club. I recommend it.
At any rate, there's going to be a lot more shit coming out like this. Post-Aquarium has got your kids.

Crash Sunday - Brutal Sunshine OST
Crash Sunday - Brutal Sunshine and the Godyssey Soundtrack Mix (all one file)
Crash sunday - Brutal Sunshine and the Godyssey Soundtrack Mix (individual files)
Before there was post-aquarium there was Brutal Sunshine, a filthy, relentlessly schizophrenic, multimedia mixtape (music/video; all appropriated).
The soundtrack consists of 36 songs mixed across 57 minutes, most are down to around 30 seconds or so. Above I have linked to the seamless mix (a 57 minute mp3), also the individual files cuz it bugs me when i don't have options. Both have a word doc of the tracklist, which is now in the comments section cuz it was taking up the whole page:

Coloreater - "Prickle Dripper"
"Coloreater - Prickle Dripper"
wowee. For those that don't know, Coloreater is the solo project of Dom from Ship Ship. He's always had some rad tunes and performances, but when "Prickle Dripper" debuted on 91.5's Indie Queens radio show the other night, we were all pretty floored. A bonified Post-Aquarium masterpiece, this track sets the bar pretty high. Plus it's phonetically confusing and I almost always want to call it pickle dripper or pickle dipper which is sooo vulgar. It's like the gift that keeps on giving.

Seagrass Diov - New and old trax
"Seagrass Diov - New You" - Super Recommended
"Seagrass Diov - Good Deal"
Two rad woozy tunes coming to you from Lansing's Seagrass Diov. I was truly blown away when I first heard "New You". The vocals are so off-kilter and unhinged in such a muted and subtle way. I really love the processing he uses on his vox.
"Good Deal" is similarly unhinged and bare, but rather than using the same drum machine/organ formula of "New You", he limits things to just a very melancholy, wistful, and spare piano melody. Combined with his vocals, the effect is both breathtakingly beautiful and very, very broken. Really diggin these tunes, keep an eye out for more of his stuff, add him on myspace, etc.
